I am a French expat living in Southeast Asia, and I fell in love with the heritage cities of this region: Penang, Malacca, and Hoi An. Each one is a living museum where Japanese, Chinese, and European merchants once traded silk and spices along the Thu Bon River.
Every time friends came to visit, they asked the same question: “How do I explore on my own without missing the important stuff?” There was no good self-guided tour option. Hiring a guide was expensive. Guidebooks were static. Walking alone meant missing the stories hiding behind every facade.
So I built this. Hoi An Heritage Walk is a passion project to democratize heritage tourism. I want every visitor to understand the 400 years of incredible history around them, at their own pace, in their own language.
Expanded from Malaysia to Hoi An. Audio guides are available in 8 languages so that language is never a barrier to understanding history.
I have walked these streets hundreds of times. Every narration comes from personally visiting each site, understanding the layout, and knowing what visitors actually want to learn.
Each narration is meticulously researched from historical sources, academic papers, and local archives. We cross-reference facts across multiple sources to ensure accuracy.
Hoi An is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Our walking tours cover 40 heritage sites across the UNESCO heritage zone. Featured alongside guides recommended by CNN Travel and Lonely Planet.
