As the sun begins to set, something magical happens on An Hoi Island — Hoi An's Night Market awakens, and the whole neighborhood transforms into a river of light, color, and irresistible aromas. This is the evening experience that no visit to Hoi An is complete without. Stretching 300 meters along Nguyen Hoang Street, the Night Market comes alive every evening from 5 PM to around 10:30 PM. Over 150 vendors set up stalls along this narrow island street. Handmade silk lanterns in every shape and size hang overhead and pile up in glowing pyramids. Silk scarves, lacquerware, wooden carvings, leather goods, and jewelry crafted from local materials compete for your attention at every turn. The lanterns are the undeniable stars. Hoi An's silk lanterns have been handcrafted here for centuries, originally by artisans in nearby villages who supplied the trading port's decorations. Watching a skilled vendor demonstrate how bamboo frames are covered with silk and painted with traditional designs is one of the night market's great pleasures. And yes, they can pack them flat for your suitcase. The food section deserves its own visit. Street vendors serve Hoi An's greatest hits at astonishing prices. Banh Mi with crispy baguettes...
